HEAT TREATMENT
TransTechnology Brasil utilizes the best heat treatment for metal engineered products.
The austempering principles are: a controlled cooling and an isothermic transformation are necessary to reach a complete austempered microstructure (bainite), and guarantee the best quality of our products.
After austenitization, TransTechnology Brasil products are quenched in a saline bath (approx.) 320º C) and kept at this temperature for a certain period until the required structural conversion has occurred and then cooled further to room temperature. This isothermal conversion has the following advantages:
Improvement in proof stress
Extreme toughness and thus higher permanent strength and a reduced risk of hardening cracks and better elimination of stress peaks
Ductility and toughness when compared to oil hardened parts
Less distortion due to a smaller temperature difference
Less sensitivity to hydrogen embrittlement
Energy saving
Apart from a
few exceptions, all products systems are always hardened
by isothermic conversion.
